Appointments

To make an appointment please call Dr Eyears’ reception on 07 5689 1305  or complete our online form.

For your initial appointment please email the referral from your general practitioner (GP), patient intake form (which will be sent to you), and any relevant reports or specialist letters.

Please note all forms are to be completed during appointments. Please note that the practitioners time is involved in completing reports and forms, therefore completion outside appointments will incur a fee.

Please be ready approximately 10 minutes before your appointment.

All appointments must be confirmed 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. A cancellation fee will apply for cancelling within 24 hours or non-attendance. Please note appointments may be cancelled if we cannot contact you so please call 07 5689 1305 to confirm your appointment.

  • Telehealth

    Dr Eyears provides a combination of in person and Telehealth appointments. This gives you the flexibility to receive the help you need. Dr Eyears is available to see people locally, interstate and in rural areas.

    Telehealth is a video consultation over the internet. A Telehealth appointment can be made by phoning reception on 07 5689 1305.

    You are required to have a current referral. Please enquire of reception if your referral is current. If not, you will need to make an appointment with your general practitioner (GP) to request a referral.

    Our receptionists will inform you of the procedure for Telehealth appointments.

  • Referral to a Psychiatrist

    A referral from a general practitioner (GP) is required to see a psychiatrist and is valid for twelve months.

    Referrals are required to claim the Medicare rebate for each appointment.

    After 12 months patients are required to get a new referral from a GP to continue to claim their Medicare rebate.

    Where the referral originates from a specialist such as a paediatrician, psychiatrist or neurologist to a specialist medical doctor such as a psychiatrist, the referral is valid for 3 months. After this time a new referral will be required.

  • Confirming An Appointment

    SMS appointment reminders are sent several days prior to your appointment. Please text or call to confirm your appointment.

    To maintain your appointment, all appointments must be confirmed 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. A cancellation fee will apply for cancelling within 24 hours or non-attendance. Please note appointments may be cancelled if we cannot contact you so please call 07 5689 1305 to confirm your appointment (please see our cancellation policy).

  • Cancellation Policy

    Patient care is of utmost importance to us. In order to provide all patients with the best care we do require notice of 24 hours or more for cancellation of all appointments. This enables us to assist with emergencies and other unexpected urgent matters. Please note that your care is our priority and we do appreciate your understanding. Please ensure that you keep your contact details up to date.

    Cancellations within 24 hours will incur a cancellation fee. Non-attendance will incur a cancellation fee. If you are unable to be contacted and do not attend your appointment, a cancellation fee will be incurred. Please note cancellation fees and non-attendance fees cannot be claimed from Medicare.

  • Fee Payment

    Fee payment is required at the time of consultation. Payment method is by debit or credit card (please note that we do not accept cheques, Diners Club or American Express).

    Gap payments are not available.

    Medicare rebates are applicable if you have a referral to your psychiatrist. Please ensure that you keep your Medicare details up to date.

    Please note Medico-legal reports do not qualify for a Medicare rebate.

    The Medicare Safety Net provides increased rebates after reaching a threshold for the total gap expenses for consultations for all family members to all doctors. This can be helpful in enabling intensive regular longer-term treatment. Please enquire of Medicare.
